Early Life & Education
Dr. Sushil Kotru, born in Kashmir, overcame early challenges to pursue his passion for medicine. He excelled in his MBBS and later completed his MD, earning recognition for his dedication and academic excellence.
Medical Career & Specialization
He worked as a Senior Resident in Cardiology at Escorts Heart Institute, gaining valuable experience. However, his interest in Diabetes & Endocrinology led him to establish his own clinic early in his career.
Contributions to Diabetes Care
Dr. Kotru played a key role in educating and treating diabetic patients, especially in rural areas. He pioneered Punjab’s first Diabetes Footcare Clinic, providing advanced treatment and preventive care.
Academic & Professional Achievements
His commitment to education led him to join Adesh Institute of Medical Sciences, Bathinda, as an Assistant Professor, where he established the Diabetes & Obesity Care Unit. He also has over 13 years of experience associated with MEDOC (Max Endocrine Diabetes & Obesity Care Centre), delivering advanced endocrine, diabetes, and obesity management services. 1. Investigator in LANDMARC Study (Longitudinal Nationwide Study on Management and Real-World Outcomes of Diabetes in India), conducted by Sanofi group. Longitudinal Nationwide study on Management And Real-world outcomes of diabetes in India (LANDMARC study) aimed to understand the micro- and macrovascular complications, glycemic control, and time to treatment adaptation in Indian subjects with T2DM over a follow-up period of 3 years. LANDMARC (CTRI/2017/05/008452) is the first pan-India, prospective, multicenter, observational, and longitudinal study of subjects with T2DM.
2. Investigator in IDMPS Study (International Diabetes Management Practices Study), conducted by Sanofi group.
3. Co-Investigator in a study “Pharmacogenetics of SGLT2 inhibitors”, conducted by Central University of Punjab.
